Christmas Tradition Ideas

Christmas memories are made each year by just being together and sharing the Christmas season with the ones you love. Christmas traditions are a great way to build lasting memories for your family. The Christmas tradition you decide to start in your family can be as simple and easy as you want.

One of my favorite family traditions, is purchasing an ornament for each member of the family that reflects an interest or experience of that person from the year. It is great fun each year to put these ornaments on the tree and walk down memory lane. The ornaments will go with the kids when they leave home. Each year when the Christmas tree is decorated your child will share their childhood with their new family.

If you do not have a family tradition, here are a few ideas to help you in choosing a Christmas tradition.

1. Do an Advent calendar together

2. Watch Christmas movies together

3. Buy a new game for a present that you can play as a family on Christmas

4. Purchase an ornament for each family member reflecting an experience or interest of the year.

5. After you decorate the tree, sit around the tree and drink hot chocolate.

6. Have books about the holiday that only come out at Christmas time.

7. Bake cookies together.

8. Take Christmas cards to a nursing home.

9. Volunteer at a soup kitchen.

10. Buy Christmas gifts for a family in need.

11. Deliver cookies to your neighbors.

12. Sing Christmas carols on Christmas Eve or Christmas afternoon.

These traditions will definetely outlast the excitement of Christmas morning presents. Start one with your family this season.
